Quantum computers will solve critical challenges at speeds classical computers can’t match – and they’re nearly mainstream. Companies worldwide are racing to harness this potential, including Pasqal, a pioneering French startup pushing the boundaries of quantum tech.
To lead sustainably, Pasqal sought to broaden access to this specialized knowledge. 

Pasqal wanted to build a vibrant learning space dedicated to advancing quantum skills. Their ambition was no less than to equip a global workforce with quantum programming skills, ready to explore untapped applications. 

The learning space should bring together learners, thinkers, and innovators around a shared interest in quantum technology. 

We teamed up with Pasqal to create a platform connecting them all and meeting their diverse learning needs.

What does it take to bring such a complex science to a truly diverse audience, ranging from beginners to experts? To help them scale the learning curve and keep them engaged in the process?

It takes a community.

Using the latest e-learning techniques, we created an immersive experience that connects learners within a gamified environment – fostering motivation and helping them progress at their own pace.

To get there, we teamed up with Pasqal’s experts to define personas and create tailored learning journeys. We worked in ‘design-thinking’ mode to jointly develop the creative concept: a workshop series delivered three visual universe ideas, a storyboard, and an interactive map.

How to transform complex content into engaging, bite-sized learning

• Turn learning into an adventure by building a narrative and making learners the protagonists of their story
• Customise learning journeys from day one through pre-assessment and goal alignment.
• Foster deeper understanding and retention through interactive experiences.
• Drive motivation and goal achievement by promoting spaced learning and repetition
• Boost engagement and make learning fun with gamified exercises and reward-driven challenges
• Enable progress tracking through integrated quizzes and self-assessments

A pilot version of Pasqal’s Quantum Quest was launched in 2024 – and the community has been growing ever since.

Learners of all backgrounds can interact with quantum concepts, experiment with programming tools, observe real-world applications, and check their understanding along the way.
Storytelling techniques, like narrative cliffhangers and reward-driven progression, boost engagement. An interactive guide and peer exchange further build a sense of community within the learning experience.

We are still busy adding additional “floors” – or levels – to create an ever more accomplished quantum learning experience.

But that’s not all.
Quantum Quest was nominated for the QS Reimagine Education Awards in the ‘Developing Emerging Skills’ category, a prestigious recognition for the most impactful learning initiatives.

Our first project with Pasqal dates back to 2021, when we helped them create an animated video to explain their highly complex work in simple terms. Since then, we have expanded the scope of our collaboration to create digital experiences bringing their technology to broad audiences and helping them unleash the full potential of quantum computing.
