A bit of history

In 2018, cartoonbase decided to open not one, but two offices in Switzerland.

Both are located in the French-speaking area: one in Lausanne, in the canton of Vaud, the other in Nuvilly in the canton of Fribourg.

When people think of Switzerland, they tend to imagine the Alps or some small village in the middle of the fields. This is where the administrative part of the team is located: far from the busy city life, they can focus all their energy on serving our clients.

The creative team, however, needs constant stimulus. That’s why they are based in a space called Banana Campus, right in the heart of Lausanne. This space brings together creative teams including small businesses, agencies, architects and designers – it’s full of creative energy.

Two complete opposites. That’s the story of cartoonbase: it was founded when a management consultant and a cartoonist found that the ideas they came up with together were both more creative and more impactful.

How we create your next animation, visual or graphic identity in Lausanne

Content first! There is no good communication campaign without substance. From the idea to a well-crafted concept, a graphic identity and a story that is told striking the right tone and pushing the right buttons, your content is what makes your message come alive. Over the years, drawing on our experience across diverse fields and projects, we have fine-tuned our approach to deliver visual content that makes you feel something. We make sure all our projects reflect what we call our DNA, the recipe for a good project:
  1. Touch the right cord. The first thing we ask is how you want the audience to feel about your message. This is the central pillar of any campaign and determines the style, tone, length, distribution channel, etc.
  2. Simplify without dumbing down. Of course, knowing how you’d like people to feel about your message doesn’t replace the message itself. We get straight to the point: our content creators make sure to cut all unnecessary information. Every sentence, visual, word or music should serve a purpose:
    • Does it contribute to striking the right tone?
    • Does it convey an important piece of information? One that truly contributes to the objectives of the communication plan?
  3. Prototype quickly. No need to have finalised material to exchange ideas. Fast prototyping gives room to co-creation, corrections and exchanges. It enables us to provide you with ideas and you to direct us where you want to go.
  4. Treat all content equally. It’s not because you are training people or discussing complex matters that your communications must be dull. Quite the contrary: getting your message across is worth the extra mile, whatever the scope.
